Summer Project To begin my summer project, I began by photographing myself from various angles, experimenting with different forms of lighting to cast shadows as well as direct light to avoid shadows. When I had an array of photographs to choose from, I went back chose the 12 most diverse ones which I then turned into my self-portrait drawings. I was not sure what medium to use for my portraits, therefore I began experimenting with charcoal to see the various forms of shading I could achieve with it in comparison to regular lead pencil. In the end decided utilizing both lead and charcoal. In addition I also used pen when came out to be the most challenging as it was difficult to achieve shading with a constant color of ink.
My overall approach was that in which I could capture myself in such ways to reveal sort of various aspects of my personality. I wanted to be able to demonstrate that in a way different perspectives create different me. My theme was self discovery or actualization in such to be able to reveal more about myself.
